Arriving in 1951, the couple recognized both the unique charm and pressing threats to the village's heritage. By founding the Roslyn Landmark Society in 1961, they launched a proactive campaign to protect Roslyn’s buildings and landscapes from encroaching development. Their collaborative spirit united local residents, historians, and preservationists, fostering a community-wide commitment to safeguarding Roslyn’s legacy.

The Gerrys’ vision was not simply about preserving buildings but about retaining Roslyn’s identity as a vibrant, historic community.

Figures such as architect Guy Ladd Frost were drawn to Roslyn’s preservation movement, transitioning from modernist inclinations to become advocates of historical authenticity under Roger’s mentorship.
